History
|
The Children’s Advocacy Programs of the Blue Ridge, Inc. (CAPS)
is a
nonprofit corporation created with the primary purpose of providing
court
appointed volunteers to function as advocates for children who are
the
subjects of judicial proceedings involving allegations that the
child is
abused, neglected, in need of services, or in need of supervision.
They
also provide adult education to promote the use of healthy communication
to lessen the effects parental divorce and separation have on children
and
also administer a county cabinet committed to stopping the revolving
door
of children needing county services. The overall guiding mission
statement
for the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center, the new facility
owned
by CAPS, is to provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive, multidisciplinary
team responses to allegations of child abuse in a dedicated,
child friendly setting. |
