Mission Statement
|
The Southwest Virginia Children’s Advocacy Center offers
a full child abuse continuum of care; from prevention
of child abuse, to intervention, and to providing
treatment for children who have experienced abuse. |
|
History
|
Guided by a 50-agency CAC partnership, the Southwest
Virginia Children’s Advocacy Center opened in April 2002.
Child abuse prevention services are offered through the
Healthy Families program located at the CAC site.
The CAC offers child abuse intervention and treatment
services for child victims of abuse. The center
provides a child-friendly facility for forensic
interviews and uses a multidisciplinary approach to
provide case reviews that aids in the investigation and
prosecution phases. The center also provides supportive
services and case management to non-offending caretakers.
The center relies on its community partners to provide medical
evaluations; additional victim support and advocacy; and other services
needed by child victims and their families. |
