The Children’s Advocacy Center of Virginia (CACVA) was organized in
2002. CACVA is a non-profit, non-partisan, membership organization
affiliated with the National Children’s Alliance. CACVA will support
the work and mission of Child Advocacy Centers (CAC) in the Commonwealth
of Virginia. CACVA priorities include:

Administrative Development
- Interagency agreements, policy, protocols & procedures – supported by
a cooperative agreement with the Department of Criminal Justice Services
¨
Outcome Measurement
- Database development & reporting requirements
¨
Training Development -
Enhancement of knowledge & skill level of CAC personnel both at the
local & state level
¨
Legislative Advocacy -
CACVA advocates for public and private sector policies, services &
funding
¨
Public
Awareness - CACVA seeks to increase community awareness of child
abuse and the need for Child Advocacy Centers
¨
Expansion Opportunities -
CACVA supports the development and continuation of new and existing CACs
CAC membership into
the CACVA Network is determined by each organization’s membership level
with National Children’s Alliance. Individual membership is available
for those desiring to support the CAC model in Virginia, and all
membership fees will be assessed on an annual basis. CAC members will be
listed on the Chapter’s website and in their brochures, and all members
are notified of CACVA’s Annual Meeting.
