Mission Statement

History

In the early 1990s, The Child Abuse Center of Hampton Roads was an independent 501(c)(3) program that offered mental health services to abused and neglected children in the Tidewater area. The Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters acquired this program in December 1998 and created the CHKD Child Abuse Program. This new program was developed as a Children's Advocacy Center. Since that time, services have expanded to include not only the mental health services, but also medical and forensic interviewing services. The CHKD
Child Abuse Program works closely with investigative agencies in seven local jurisdictions.
